Airbus’ BelugaXL saftey certification approval from EASA

Yesterday it was announced that the super transporter aircraft from Airbus, the BelugaXL has now recieved its saftey type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

This means this huge and awesome aircraft will move its way into entry-for-service in early 2020. A huge step since its maiden flight in July 2018.

The aircraft designed and built to support the A350 XWB production rate increase carries 30 percent more capacity than the BelugaST and can carry two wings of an A350 XWB jetliner. In comparision the BelugaST can carry only 1. It has a maximum whopping payload of 51 tonnes and a range of approximatly 2,200 nm.

The BelugaXL is planned to slowly phase out the BelugaST’s fleet due to its larger cargo capacity and operating range.

The size of the body of the plane is 63.1m the average size of 2 whales! Airbus states. As tall as a 3 story building and is planned to be capable of covering 6.5 million km per year!

I think you will all agree that this plane is truely an engineering marval and I will be keeping my eye out to capture some videos of this beauty!
