easyJet have confirmed today that it has exercised its purhase rights to increase its fleet of A320neos by 12 new aircraft. This brings the carrier’s total order for the A320neo to 159 and its overall order for Airbus single asisles to 480 in the A320 Family. It comes after an announcement for the company to have a “net” zero carbon emissions company, a first for commercial aviation.
Currently easyJet is operating over 1,000 routes with 39 A320neo and 294 A320ceo Family serving over 155 European airports in over 30 countries. The first delivery of the A320 for easyJet was in 2003 and has grown to operate the largest A320 fleet in Europe.
The A320neo programme was designed with fuel efficency in mind delivering up to 20% reduced fuel burn as well as 50% less noise compared to previous generation aircraft. Depending on the cabin configuration the aircraft can seat up to 240 passengers and the A320neo features the widest single-aisle cabin and also the very latest technology. This includes new generation engines and Sharklets.
For Airbus at the end of October 2019 the A320neo Family had recieved more than 7,000 firm orders from over 110 customers worldwide.
